June 24, 20156th Annual Hudson Valley Stroll for Epilepsy to Benefit the Epilepsy Foundation of Northeastern New York
(Rhinebeck, NY, June 24, 2015) The Epilepsy Foundation of Northeastern New York will hold its annual “Hudson Valley Stroll for Epilepsy” on Saturday, June 27, at the Dutchess County Fairgrounds in Rhinebeck. Registration starts at 11:00am with the Stroll starting at Noon, followed by a BBQ lunch for all attendees as well as raffles and silent auction items up for bid.
EFNENY offers programs and services at no cost to an estimated 45,000 people with epilepsy and their families including 11,000 people with epilepsy who live in Ulster, Sullivan or Dutchess counties. All funds raised at this event will stay local and be used to support these services for the epilepsy community in the Upper Hudson Valley region.
Epilepsy can affect anyone at any age at any time. The Institute of Medicine reports that one out of every 26 Americans will develop epilepsy at some point in their lifetime. Currently there are almost 3 million people in the USA with epilepsy and every year another 150,000 cases are diagnosed.
This fun and family-friendly event attract 180 participants last year and raised more than $17,000. The chairperson of the Stroll Committee is Christine Rifenburgh of Germantown. Major supporting sponsors of this year’s Stroll include Northeast Regional Epilepsy Group, Center for Disability Services, AstraZeneca, Lundbeck LLC, Taconic Biosciences, Cyberonics, 96.1 KISS FM radio, Poughkeepsie Journal and Fidelis Care.
