February 3, 2023518gives Fundraiser to benefit Center for Disability Services
The Center for Disability Services is celebrating its 80th year of providing innovative and unique programs and services to individuals with disabilities and their families within our community.
Stories of hope, innovation and achievement will be highlighted and local talent will shine during the #518gives Fundraiser to be broadcast on FOX23 (Cable Ch. 8 and Ch. 7 in the North Country) on Sunday, February 5, 2023 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm, and streamed live on the Center’s website at cfdsny.org and News10 ABC at news10.com. All proceeds support the programs and services of the Center for Disability Services and its affiliates/divisions: Down Syndrome Aim High Resource Center, HII-Tech Incubator, Prospect Center in Queensbury, and St. Margaret’s Center in Albany.
This year’s Child Representative is 4-year old Charlotte Ochoa-Caguana, who attends the Center’s Clover Patch PreSchool program in Albany and lives at St. Margaret’s Center. Adult Representative Douglas Gould attends the Center’s Adult DayHab program in Glenville, lives in one of the Center’s residences, and receives services from Center Health Care. Additional stories will feature Langan School in Albany student Khyonna Coleman, Ramos Hector, who is a student at the Langan School at Prospect Center in Queensbury, an update on Langan School in Albany student Kassidy Salisbury-Arnold, and stories featuring Center Health Care services, the Centers research and development arm HII-Tech, a tour of St. Margaret’s Center, and a Staff Tribute.
There will be performances by eight local vocalists and one dance troupe. Acts will include high school vocalists Kelsey Dodd from Saratoga Springs, Michael Flynn from Ballston Spa, and Nicholas Noyes from Mechanicville, middle school vocalists Bella Sano from Troy and Libby Stavers from Ballston Spa, as well as adult vocalists Ron Peterson from Clifton Park, Raphel Peralta from Altamont and Christina Reger from Troy. CK Dance Company from East Greenbush will also be performing a tap number.
The Center for Disability Services, known as the place where people get better at life, is celebrating 80 years in service to the community. It provides innovative programs and vital services, which are often not available elsewhere, to thousands of individuals with disabilities and their families every year.
