24th Annual Fam 5k “Fund” Run/Walk

This year’s 24th Annual FAM 5K “Fund” Run/Walk for charity will be held at the Cobleskill Fairgrounds at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 23 and supports Catholic Charities of Delaware, Otsego, and Schoharie Counties. Catholic Charities of Delaware, Otsego, and Schoharie Counties, a ministry of the Catholic Diocese of Albany, is committed to active witness on behalf of the Scriptural values of mercy and justice. Catholic Charities, recognizing human need at all stages of life, responds to all persons regardless of race, creed or lifestyle, with special emphasis on the economically poor and the vulnerable. Catholic Charities serves and empowers persons in need, advocates for a just society, calls forth and collaborates with women and men of good will in fulfillment of its mission.

Each year the proceeds from the FAM 5K are donated to one of five different local charities on a rotating basis: Catholic Charities of Delaware, Otsego, and Schoharie Counties; Catskill Area Hospice and Palliative Care; Schoharie County ARC; Schoharie County Community Action Program; and Cobleskill Regional Hospital (Bassett Healthcare Network). For the past several years, the FAM 5K has donated about $20,000 annually.

“We continue this fall event because these local charities rely on our support. Our goal is to help raise awareness about each organization while providing financial resources,” said Race Director Peter Sweetser. Since the event’s inception in 1994, the FAM 5K’s mission has been to endorse and promote the qualities of family, good health, and service to the community. The FAM 5K, featured in Runner’s World, InvestmentNews, and the Wall Street Journal, uniquely awards FAM Funds mutual fund shares to the top male and female winners in several age categories. Participants include 24-year race enthusiasts, multigenerational families, elite runners, and walkers of all ages.

There will be complimentary fruit, bagels, drinks, music, massage therapists, and much more for all participants. Brooks BBQ Chicken will be available to purchase and there will be a Kids’ Run as well.
