2016 One County, One Book

Schenectady County Public Library announces 2016 ONE COUNTY, ONE BOOK author visit!

Schenectady County Public Library will welcome Jacqueline Woodson, author of our OCOB title Brown Girl Dreaming, to the GE Theater @ Proctors for a program on Monday evening, April 4 at 7 p.m. The doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and seating is on a first-come basis. Registration and tickets are not required for this event. There will be a book sale and signing at the event, conducted by The Open Door Bookstore. The Open Door Bookstore is also offering a 20% discount on Brown Girl Dreaming prior to the week of the event. This event is funded by the Friends of the Library.

The annual community service project associated with ONE COUNTY, ONE BOOK is a children’s book drive to support an early literacy initiative. The library is in need of new or gently used board books, picture books and easy readers to give away at early literacy programs. There is a particular need for culturally diverse books. Book donation boxes are located at all branch libraries, the Whitney Book Corner, and the Open Door Bookstore, and many organizations across Schenectady County. Books may also be brought to the Jacqueline Woodson event on April 4. Questions on how you can help or where to find a donation box? Contact Lauren Bendall via the email below!
