1st National Bank of Scotia announces the addition of two new positions to enhance strategic objectives and increase risk management: Randy Marsicano, vice president and senior risk and information security officer, and Hamza Qadir, director of strategic innovation and operations.
Marsicano will play an integral role in overseeing operational risk management and project implementation. He was formerly with Wolf & Company, PC, and brings 34 years of experience to the bank in designing and implementing enterprise risk management, vendor management and operational risk management programs. He has worked in both the operation and technical sides of the financial industry, and has a strong understanding of how to implement relevant change in an organization to meet strategic goals.
In his new position, Marsciano will enhance the existing risk management and information security programs at 1st National. “The news of the day shows threats to the banking industry are ever growing and changing. To keep the bank and customers safe from these threats, we have to continually enhance our risk management programs,” he said.
Qadir, most recently with The Venture Center in Little Rock, Ark., brings years of experience as an entrepreneur in the startup field. He leads banking technology accelerator programs that bring tech companies, financial institutions and strategic financial organizations together.
In his role, Qadir will focus on developing, implementing and managing new technology and service capabilities to best align and prioritize activities with strategic objectives, while increasing visibility for project stakeholders and participants. “1st National has conquered incredible achievements to reach 100 years in community banking; I hope to work with the team here so that we can continue to thrive for another century,” he added.
“I am delighted to welcome Randy and Hamza to our team,” noted 1st National Bank of Scotia President and CEO John Buhrmaster. “With the age of advanced technology, and the risk it imposes, these well-seasoned experts will help us meet the challenges to provide our customers with a secure, yet modern banking experience. I have no doubt that their talent and expertise will prove to be a valuable asset as 1st National continues to be a leader in the community banking industry.”
