January 30, 2019151 Bar & Restaurant Named 2019 Soup Stroll “Souperstar”
Thousands of visitors swarmed into Downtown Schenectady today to sample a scrumptious selection of soup recipes at 26 participating locations during the 4th Annual Schenectady Soup Stroll from 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Guests who sampled at least 10 soups were encouraged to cast votes for their favorite flavor. After all ballots were counted following the event, the 2019 Soup Stroll “Souperstar” winner by popular vote was 151 Bar & Restaurant for their Maryland Crab Chowder. Second place went to 20 North Broadway Tavern for their Roasted Poblano Corn Chowder. Third place went to Johnny’s Restaurant for their Italian Nacho Soup.
In addition to the popular vote, a group of special guest judges from the Yelp Albany Elite Member community rated participating restaurants’ soup creations. Judges’ picks were:
- Golden Tureen (1st Place): Mad Jack Brewing Co. @ The Van Dyck, Pale Potato Pancake Soup Infused w/Mad Jack Pale Ale
- Silver Spoon (2nd Place): Aperitivo Bistro, Chicken Parmigiano Soup
- Bronze Ladle (3rd Place): Ruggiero’s Pizza, Deli & Catering @ Jay St. Pub, Chicken & Sausage Gumbo
- Honorable Mentions:
- Most Creative – Hunter’s on Jay, Caramel Maple Butternut Bisque
- Most Unexpected – The DillyBean, Stand Out In The Kraut Soup
- Best International – Tara Kitchen, Haleem Porridge
- Taste of Home – Hell’s Grill @ Tattoo Blues, Chicken & Dumpling Soup
The 4th Annual Schenectady Soup Stroll was presented the Downtown Schenectady Improvement Corporation. Promotional support was provided by Yelp Albany.
