Birds of Prey Encore Presentation Set for May 5

Birds of Prey 1Trish Marki, wildlife educator at The Wildlife Institute of Eastern New York, will return to The Meadows at Glenwyck (150 Dutch Meadows Lane, Glenville) Thursday, May 5 at 11 a.m. to give an encore presentation titled, “Silent Wings: Raptor Rehab and Education.”

Marki, who spoke to a packed house on the same topic March 28, will showcase live birds of prey, including a hawk, owls and a falcon. She will also discuss the impressive adaptations and behaviors of these remarkable birds, conservation issues that impact them, and wildlife rehabilitation, including what to do if you find injured or orphaned wildlife.

“We will begin by talking about wildlife rehabilitation and some of the wildlife folks might see in this area and then segue into our birds,” said Marki. “Some of our birds sustained injuries that prevent them from returning to the wild. They are now used to educate the public about their importance to the ecosystem.”

The session will also feature hands-on learning with real feathers, talons and bones.

The presentation is free and open to the public. Seating is limited. Reserve your place by calling 518.280.7340. Light refreshments will be served.Birds of Prey 2
