Hilton Albany Donates 35 Turkeys to Capital City Rescue Mission

The Hilton Albany donated just shy of three dozen turkeys Monday to the Capital City Rescue Mission to help the non-profit with their Thanksgiving meal. The 35 birds were delivered by David Hayes, the Downtown hotel’s general manager, who was joined by additional Hilton staff.

The donation of turkeys was made as part of the Hilton’s “Blue Energy Culture,” through which the spirit of the brand is shared with the community. With a plan to volunteer at the Capital City Rescue Mission, Hayes said he was pleasantly surprised to learn how strong the community support was for the organization and that they had filled all volunteer positions two days after putting a call out; instead, the hotel asked for the waiting list of people who requested meals, and the 35 turkeys will ensure that every family who sought a dinner will receive one.

“It is always a pleasure to help our neighbors and be a part of the community,” said Hayes. “At a time of year when we collectively express gratitude, the Hilton Albany family is thankful to be a part of helping area families share a Thanksgiving dinner.”

The donation will help the Mission serve an anticipated 1,800 Thanksgiving meals this year, including those who will eat at the 259 S Pearl Street location and who are taking meals to go.

“We are grateful for the partnership with the Hilton Albany and their generosity in helping us serve the needy and homeless community,” said Perry Jones, executive director of the Capital City Rescue Mission. “Together with support from businesses and individuals, the Capital City Rescue Mission is working to ensure that every person can enjoy a hot meal on Thanksgiving and year-round.”

In addition to the turkey donation, the Hilton Albany will also be preparing and delivering Thanksgiving meals to the area fire departments that serve their location at 40 Lodge Street.
