Blandisi’s OT Winner Extends Devils Winning Streak to Four

Joseph Blandisi scored 1:53 into overtime to lift the Albany Devils to their fourth consecutive victory. The Devils knocked off the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, 2-1, Saturday at PPL Center to improve to 8-3-2-0 overall, including 4-0-1-0 in November. Albany is second in the North Division with a .667 points percentage.

Mike Sislo gave the Devils a 1-0 advantage at 19:25 of the first period and they led until Lehigh Valley’s Petr Straka found the back of the net at 10:32 in the third.

Albany’s special teams once again had a major impact. Sislo’s eighth goal of the season came on the man advantage with Matt Lorito and Blake Coleman posting the assists. In the third, the penalty kill unit killed a 5-on-3 just minutes after the Phantoms tied the game.

In overtime, Sislo nearly ended the contest when he hit the post on a breakaway. Seconds later, Corey Tropp set up Blandisi for his sixth goal of the season.

Netminder Doug Carr, who is playing with the Devils as a PTO, earned his first victory of the year. He made 21 saves on 22 shots. At the other end, Anthony Stolarz made 27 stops on 29 tries.

The Devils will try and push their winning streak to five games with the final game of their three-in-three weekend. They travel to face the Springfield Falcons Sunday at 5 pm. Fans can follow the action online at ahllive.com or over the airwaves at 104.5 “The Team” ESPN Radio.
