UAlbany Hires Director for Community and Economic Development Programs

grattanUniversity at Albany has hired a director to oversee its community and economic development programs.

Matthew Grattan, previously the executive director for workforce development at Schenectady County Community College, was named UAlbany’s director of community and economic development. This is a new position for UAlbany.

Grattan will oversee business development efforts at the university, including Start-Up New York, according to the university. Start-Up New York allows businesses that expand or relocate to select areas near university campuses to operate tax free for 10 years.

UAlbany is the Albany area’s largest university, enrolling more than 17,000 students. It is one of four university centers in the State University of New York’s 64-campus system.
