Duanesburg High School Wins $7,500 Grant for Fitness and Health Equipment

The Duanesburg Central School District has won a $7,500 Muscle Milk® Recovery Grant to purchase much-needed high school fitness room equipment, including free weights, a universal weight system, ropes and an elliptical machine. DCS was selected from more than 450 applicants and is one of just two schools in New York and 19 nationwide to be awarded one of the competitive grants by CytoSport, Inc., a Benicia, CA, sports nutrition company.

“The $7,500 Muscle Milk® Recovery Grant will provide valuable funding that will enable DCS to replace fitness equipment that is worn and no longer meeting our students’ needs,” said Duanesburg Superintendent Christine Crowley. “The grant is a significant boost for our efforts to provide a positive learning environment while helping students to develop healthy, lifelong skills.”

The district is replacing its cramped and outdated weight room, located in an area intended for storage, with a more suitable, safer space. The grant that will help fund the fitness equipment for that space was written in cooperation with the Capital Region BOCES Grants Service.

“The Muscle Milk Recovery Grant Program has successfully grown each year,” said Greg N. Longstreet, President and CEO of CytoSport, Inc. “High School athletic programs across the country have real needs for safe workout equipment, protective gear, uniforms and facility upgrades. We are honored that our grants assist in the development of student-athletes and provide a brighter future for schools and athletic programs across the country.”
