Discover Schenectady invites residents and visitors to celebrate the Halloween season at The Nightmare Market Halloween Bash on Saturday, October 17, from 5 to 9 p.m. at Jay Street Marketplace and the area surrounding City Hall in downtown Schenectady. The free, family-friendly event will feature more than 80 vendors, live entertainment and Halloween-themed attractions.
The evening will bring together artists and small businesses offering handmade goods, artwork, vintage finds, alternative fashion, oddities, collectibles and other distinctive creations. Visitors can browse the market, enjoy live performances and explore a variety of spooky attractions throughout the evening.
“The Nightmare Market brings a creative energy to downtown Schenectady and gives residents and visitors another great reason to spend an evening here,” said Elissa Fornasiero, interim president of Discover Schenectady. “It’s a fun way to celebrate Halloween while supporting artists, small businesses and our downtown shops and restaurants.”
Entertainment will include a fire performance by Luna Fire Faun, a Celtic Magik performance by Daniel Greenwolfe, a contortionist performance and a freak show. Halloween attractions will include a Krampus Den, a Monster Meet Up photo station, the Aura Coffin on Jay Square and a large-scale projection installation by Far Eye Visuals, along with additional spooky surprises.
“We’re bringing together an incredible mix of artists, vendors and performers for an evening that celebrates all things wicked and weird,” said Kayla Ek, director and owner of The Nightmare Market Inc. “Whether you come for the shopping, the entertainment or the Halloween atmosphere, there’s a little weird for everyone.”
