Rivers Casino Schenectady Donates More Than $8,400 to Leatherstocking Honor Flight

Rivers Casino Schenectady presented a check in the amount of $8,457.10 to Leatherstocking Honor Flight in support of the organization’s mission to honor America’s veterans by providing them with an opportunity to visit the memorials built in tribute to their service and sacrifice in Washington, D.C.

The donation was raised through the casino’s monthly Rivers Gives: Donations Make a Difference fundraiser, in which casino guests donate their chips, uncashed vouchers and cash to support local nonprofit organizations and charitable causes throughout the Capital Region.

Since its first Honor Flight in 2008, Leatherstocking Honor Flight has conducted one to two missions each year, flying more than 1,500 veterans to Washington, D.C., to visit the memorials dedicated to the conflicts in which they served. The organization is part of the national Honor Flight Network, whose mission is to celebrate America’s veterans by giving them the recognition and thanks they have earned through their service to the nation.
