June 26, 2026Sunmark Gives Back During Second Annual Serves Week
Sunmark Credit Union recently completed its second annual Sunmark Serves Week, a weeklong volunteer initiative dedicated to giving back through hands-on service projects across the communities they serve.
From Monday, June 8 through Friday, June 12, 68 Sunmark employees contributed 180 volunteer hours in support of six service projects with local nonprofit organizations. The projects benefited children, families, students, and community members across Sunmark’s service areas.
Rooted in the credit union philosophy of “people helping people,” Sunmark Serves Week gave employees the opportunity to put Sunmark’s mission into action while strengthening partnerships with organizations that make a meaningful impact every day.
This year’s Sunmark Serves Week projects included:
Monday, June 8 – Girls Inc.
Sunmark volunteers completed an outdoor beautification project to help prepare the grounds for a summer of campers.
Tuesday, June 9 – Boys & Girls Club
Volunteers helped create a new indoor space designed to expand opportunities and programming for club kids.
Wednesday, June 10 – Hood’s House of Hoops
Sunmark volunteers supported an outdoor space expansion, helping provide local children with a safe place to play.
Wednesday, June 10 – GleeBoxx
At Sunmark’s administrative offices, volunteers prepared care packages for underserved elementary-aged students.
Thursday, June 11 – Capital Roots
Volunteers assisted with outdoor garden preparation for the Produce Project, a program focused on life skills and job readiness.
Friday, June 12 – City Mission
Sunmark employees supported indoor donation sorting and organization to help City Mission continue serving individuals and families in need.
“Sunmark Serves Week is a meaningful opportunity for our team to put our mission into action,” said Audrey Stone, Foundation Executive Director and Community Engagement Program Manager at Sunmark Credit Union. “We are grateful to partner with organizations doing important work throughout our region. Whether we are preparing outdoor spaces, organizing donations, or packing care packages, each project is another way for us to give our time, energy, and heart to the community.”
Now in its second year, Sunmark Serves Week continued to reflect Sunmark Credit Union’s deep commitment to the communities it serves. The initiative also aligns with the Sunmark Spotlights series, which celebrates local nonprofits making a meaningful difference across the Capital Region. Through volunteerism, nonprofit partnerships, and support from the Sunmark Charitable Community Foundation, Sunmark continues to bring its people helping people philosophy to life while creating lasting community impact.
