On Thursday, May 28, the Capital Region Chamber celebrated the launch of Upstate Living, the region’s first locally produced lifestyle television show, with a ribbon cutting at the News10 ABC & FOX23 studios in Albany. The event marked an exciting milestone for local media and community storytelling, highlighting the show’s mission to showcase the people, businesses, and experiences that make the Capital Region vibrant and connected.
Jason Benitez VP of Inclusion for the Capital Region Chamber served as emcee, opening the ceremony by emphasizing the show’s role as a “powerful platform for storytelling, economic visibility, and civic engagement.” He noted that the studio environment was intentionally designed to create a welcoming space for guests to comfortably share stories centered on entertainment, health, fashion, and community life.
Station leadership and partners spoke to the broader regional impact of the program. Ron Romines, Senior Vice President and Regional Manager, and Brittany Drahos, Director of Sales for Nexstar Media Group / News10 ABC & FOX23, highlighted how Upstate Living brings a fresh, modern approach to local broadcasting. The show’s co-hosts, Billy Floyd and Anne McCloy, also greeted attendees, representing the energy and perspective the program brings to the airwaves.
The event also recognized key community partners, including sponsor Community Bank and Caroline Murray of the Downtown Albany BID and Chamber Ambassadors. Their support reflects the collaborative effort behind bringing this new platform to life. Following remarks, attendees gathered for the ceremonial ribbon cutting, officially welcoming Upstate Living to the Capital Region. The celebration concluded with photos and networking, marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter in highlighting and connecting the stories of the local community.
