Sunmark Credit Union Invites Children to Pitch Kindness

Sunmark Credit Union and the Sunmark Charitable Community Foundation are kicking off their annual Summer of Kindness by partnering with the TriCity ValleyCats.

Now in its sixth year, the Summer of Kindness initiative invites children up to age 12 to pitch their ideas on how they would spread kindness in their own community, with no idea being too big or too small to be considered.  One child will be awarded an opportunity to throw the first pitch at a ValleyCats Game.

Children can submit their ideas and learn more about the Summer of Kindness program at www.sunmark.org/kindness.  Whether it’s a neighborhood cleanup, a care package drive, or something entirely their own, children are encouraged to think boldly about how they can spread kindness and upbuild their community.

“People helping people isn’t just something we say, it’s something we practice,” said Audrey Stone, Sunmark Community Engagement Manager and Executive Director of the Sunmark Charitable Community Foundation.  “Every summer, children across this region show us what that looks like at its best. Their ideas are small acts with big hearts, and we are honored to help bring them to life.”

The Summer of Kindness initiative was created in 2021, during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, to address emerging community needs and bring people together during a time of uncertainty. What began as a local response to a difficult moment has grown into one of the Foundation’s cornerstone programs.

By focusing on youth development, education, and community engagement, Sunmark and the Foundation continue to demonstrate how collective effort creates lasting impact, one act of kindness at a time.
