February 20, 2026Albany Capital Center Unveils “The City We Imagine” Mural
The Albany Capital Center (ACC) today unveiled “The City We Imagine,” a new mural created with the Albany Convention Center Authority (ACCA) and Albany Center Gallery (ACG). This is the first of two mural projects at the downtown venue, and ACC’s first exterior mural, located in the enclosed walkway on level W2 facing south. The project took approximately a month to complete.
“The City We Imagine celebrates Albany as a living narrative shaped by its people and invites viewers to see themselves in its landscape,” said Cara Hanley, artist.
“Art plays an important role in shaping how people experience Albany,” said Monica Kurzejeski, executive director and CEO of the Albany Convention Center Authority. “Through our partnership with ACG, we’re able to bring local creativity into the building and downtown Albany in a meaningful way while creating opportunities for future growth. This collaboration reflects the Authority’s continued commitment to supporting the local arts community and ensuring the Capital Center feels welcoming, memorable and distinctly Albany.”
“We are excited about this partnership and to continue our ongoing mission of bringing more art everywhere,” said Tony Iadicicco, executive director of Albany Center Gallery. “This mural painted by Cara will be a great addition to the dozens of murals we’ve curated and added to the community. This piece emphasizes storytelling, connection and a creative Albany for all.”
“Art brings warmth and a sense of identity to our space,” said Shannon Licygiewicz, CEM, general manager of the Albany Capital Center. “This mural firmly anchors the Albany Capital Center in the character and culture of our community.”
The second exterior mural at ACC will be completed in early 2026. More details will be shared soon.
