RPI Promotes Dean Burke to Assistant Director of Employer Relations in the Center for Career and Professional Development

The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) is pleased to announce the promotion of Dean Burke to Assistant Director of Employer Relations in the Center for Career and Professional Development. Dean brings 28 years of federal leadership and community outreach experience, along with three years of employer relations experience at RPI, to his new role.

Over the past three years, Dean has built strong partnerships with Capital Region employers through active engagement in networking events hosted by the Capital Region Chamber and through ongoing collaboration with local organizations. In his expanded role, he will continue working with employers throughout the Capital Region and beyond to connect RPI’s talented students with career opportunities, internships, co-ops, and full-time positions.

Dean is a dedicated advocate for civic engagement, fostering student involvement with organizations such as Sidewalk Warriors Troy, Unity House of Troy, and the Commission on Economic Opportunity. He also organizes and coordinates key campus initiatives that connect employers and students, including the Capital Region Careers Networking Night, employer information sessions, panel discussions, site visits, career fairs, and Resumania.

Prior to joining RPI, Dean served in various leadership roles with the Federal Bureau of Investigation at FBI Headquarters in Washington, DC, and at the Albany Field Office. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Business Management (cum laude) from Excelsior University, completed the Executive Scholar Program in Leadership and Management at Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management, and holds an Associate’s degree from Hudson Valley Community College.

RPI congratulates Dean on this well-earned promotion and looks forward to his continued leadership in strengthening employer partnerships across the region.
