Jubilant Birth Albany Now Accepting Applications

The United Way of the Greater Capital Region (UWGCR) is now accepting applications for Jubilant Birth Albany!

As the centerpiece of UWGCR’s mission to improve Black maternal and newborn health and advance birth equity in our community, Jubilant Birth is a groundbreaking pilot program that will provide $1,000 per month for 12 months to 28 eligible low-income pregnant individuals in Albany County—helping to reduce financial barriers that contribute to disparities in birth outcomes. Along with financial support, participants will receive prenatal, birth, and postnatal care from UWGCR’s community partners BirthNet, CEK RN Consulting, and the March of Dimes.

We believe this cash assistance will ease the financial burdens associated with pregnancy and early parenting, ultimately lowering stress and improving health outcomes for mothers and their infants.

A COLLABORATIVE EFFORT TO IMPROVE MATERNAL HEALTH

This milestone wouldn’t be possible without the dedication of our partners across public, private, and philanthropic sectors. For more than two years, UWGCR has worked tirelessly to convene and align a diverse coalition of partners toward a shared vision of addressing Black maternal health disparities in our community.

Because of your support, we’ve secured critical funding to make this vision a reality, with generous investments from:

  • Carl E. Touhey Foundation
  • Albany County American Rescue Plan*
  • Highmark Blue Shield of Northeastern New York
  • Hudson Valley Credit Union

*This project is being supported, in part, by SLFRP2108 – STATE AND LOCAL FISCAL RECOVERY FUNDS (SLFRF) awarded to the County of Albany by the U.S. Department of the Treasury.
