BBL Construction Services is Helping Build Capital Region BOCES and the Region’s Future Workforce

BBL is literally and figuratively helping BOCES build the future of skilled trades in the region.

BBL recently completed the renovations and upgrades project on the Career and Technical Education Center – Schoharie Campus after completing in 2022 the construction of the new Albany Campus. And in September, BBL broke ground on the CTE Extension Center that will be built near the BOCES administrative offices.

But their partnership goes far beyond the business model, BBL has provided expert speakers for BOCES programs, hosted tours of construction sites, provided employment and work-based learning opportunities, and even provided a graduate with a free college education.

During the summer of 2024, BBL provided June graduate Breanna Parrotti from Sharon Springs with an internship that helped her gain valuable construction industry experience prior to her starting the Construction Management: Design and Building program at SUNY Delhi.

Prior to that, Class of 2022 graduate Tom Rodick was hired by BBL while still a student at BOCES. He is attending Hudson Valley Community College for free thanks to the BOCES partner.

“I work for BBL doing property maintenance, basically flipping properties for them and preparing them for the next tenants. While I am working, they are fully reimbursing me for my degree, so they are not only paying me a salary, but they are also paying for my college,” Rodick said.

But those are just a couple of examples, Capital Region BOCES Managing Program Coordinator-Business & Community Partnerships Nancy Liddle, said, adding that BBL is the “consummate education and business partner.”

“Anytime I pick up the phone, BBL is there to provide us with assistance in preparing the workforce of today and tomorrow,” said Nancy Liddle, Capital Region BOCES Managing Program Coordinator-Business & Community Partnerships.
