The Swyer Companies Announces New Director of Real Estate

The Swyer Companies, a long-time Capital Region real estate leader, today announced that Courtney Fitzgerald will join its ranks as its new director of real estate. Fitzgerald will assume her new role in tandem with the launch of a large-scale redevelopment project currently in the initial phase at the company’s Wolf Road Park property.

Fitzgerald has more than two decades of experience in commercial property management. Most recently, she oversaw a mix of office, retail and medical tenants across 18 buildings at First Columbia in Latham. She previously worked in Boston as Property Manager at Colliers International.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Courtney to The Swyer Companies,” said The Swyer Companies President and CEO Ed Swyer. “Her extensive experience will be integral to our operations as we begin to ramp up work at Wolf Road Park and lay the groundwork for future development of the property.”

“I’m honored to be joining this dynamic company,” said Fitzgerald. “The Swyer Companies is a well-known powerhouse in Capital Region real estate with a number of expansive projects on the horizon, and I can’t wait to get to work.”

In her new role, Fitzgerald will oversee the property management and leasing functions of Executive Park, Wolf Road Park and the Metro Park Road shopping plazas. She will work closely with construction teams on fit-ups, renovations and property enhancements.

Located at 145 and 145A Wolf Road in Colonie, Wolf Road Park spans approximately 240,000 square feet and is primarily comprised of retail space that includes a vacant, 14,000-square-foot standalone building at 145 Wolf Road; the main shopping plaza at 145A Wolf Road; and supplemental properties on Metro Park Road. In addition, there are nine acres of undeveloped land for expansion. The original mixed-use development was built in the early 1970s and today is under the ownership of The Swyer Companies and the estate of Salvatore Beltrone.

Initial work, announced earlier this month, will focus on enhancements to the shopping plaza’s 1970s-era signage and fascia, which are being replaced with a clean, attractive and contemporary look. The exterior work and landscaping are expected to be completed this summer.

As one of the area’s busiest shopping corridors, Wolf Road boasts millions of square feet of office, retail and restaurant space, and is within close proximity to residential neighborhoods.

In addition to managing Wolf Road Park, Swyer currently owns and manages Executive Park adjacent to Stuyvesant Plaza. In March 2022, he entered into a joint venture with WS Development for management and ownership of Stuyvesant Plaza, the popular open-air retail destination.
