Troy, NY – Join us to celebrate the completion of thirteen new homes at “Fox Hollow” at Burden and Cross! “Fox Hollow” is the largest building endeavor that Habitat for Humanity has ever pursued in the City of Troy. Following the 11am dedication and press event, we invite the public to take a tour of one of the completed homes.

“Fox Hollow” at Burden and Cross, as the project is called, consists of 13 new single-family homes located near the intersection of Burden Avenue and Cross Street with Sullivan Street. The community is named in memory of the late Seymour Fox, a well-known Troy attorney, whose estate generously provided many of the properties for this project.

“It is truly amazing to see this project come to fruition and these houses becoming homes for these lucky families. I want to commend the Seymour Fox Memorial Foundation, Habitat for Humanity, all of the sponsors of Fox Hollow and everyone who donated their time and effort to this amazing cause,” stated Rensselaer County Executive Kathleen M. Jimino.

“The completion of the Fox Hollow project in South Troy represents an important investment in the continued revitalization of our neighborhoods by providing the opportunity for affordable housing,” said Mayor Lou Rosamilia. “I want to thank Executive Director Michael Jacobson and the entire team at Habitat for Humanity of the Capital District for their dedication and commitment to improving the lives of residents here in the City of Troy.”

Habitat partnered with Troy CEO YouthBuild to help provide a dedicated learning space for those in the program hoping to learn construction skills as a future profession. The mission of CEO YouthBuild is to help young people ages 16 to 24 that have struggled or dropped out of school to get their GED and discover a career track. YouthBuild teaches job skills in construction, health care, child development or culinary arts. “This is an exciting day for our team,” shared Angela Balogun, CEO’s YouthBuild Program Manager. “Our youth have been working on this project for three program cycles, and watching the project reach completion is so rewarding for everyone. We are thankful to Habitat for Humanity Capital District for partnering with us and working with our youth to better our community. I couldn’t be more proud.”

This project was made possible in part through a HOME grant from the City of Troy and our sponsors, First Niagara Bank, The Seymour Fox Memorial Foundation, The Troy Savings Bank Charitable Foundation, Aflac, The John D. Picotte Family Foundation, CornerStone, The Dorothy Bauer Cornish Estate, CEO YouthBuild, The Howard and Bush Foundation, The Review Foundation, The United Methodist Church and The Pardus Family Philanthropic Fund.

Speakers at this event will include Habitat’s Mike Jacobson and Christine Schudde, Troy Mayor, Lou Rosamilia, Renssealear County Executive, Kathy Jimino, and Troy CEO’s YouthBuild Program Manager. We will begin at 11:00am and interview opportunities with speakers, homeowners, and staff will be available immediately after the speaking portion of the event.
