MVP Health Care and Albany County Install a Mamava Lactation Pod at the MVP Arena

MVP Health Care and Albany County today announced that a new Mamava pod has been installed at the MVP Arena to offer a private and secure place for lactation needs when attending events. The pod is located on the atrium landing outside sections 101/130. With security always present at these doors during events, moms can let MVP Arena security know that they will be using the pod for seamless reentry. The installation of the pod was made possible through the innovation fund, which was created from the partnership between MVP and Albany County when MVP was granted naming rights to the MVP Arena.

“The installation of the Mamava pod at the MVP Arena is a testament to our ongoing dedication to building healthier communities,” said MVP Health Care’s president and CEO, Chris Del Vecchio. “The new pod will offer a safe space to support mothers and babies, while allowing them to experience the exciting events happening at the MVP Arena. We thank Albany County Executive Daniel P. McCoy for his continued partnership and commitment to investing in the health and well-being of our communities.”

According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, there is unequivocal evidence to show that breastfeeding protects against a variety of diseases and conditions for both children and moms. Children who are breastfed experience improved dental health and neurodevelopmental outcomes and have a decreased risk of illnesses like asthma, type 1 and type 2 diabetes, and SIDS. There are also maternal health benefits to breastfeeding such as decreased risks of ovarian, endometrial, and thyroid cancers, hypertension, and type 2 diabetes.

“Albany County is dedicated to improving our fan experiences at MVP Arena is every way we can,” said Albany County Executive Daniel P. McCoy. “We know the importance of lactation rooms, as we already see in our county office buildings. That is why we were committed to offering a lactation pod at the arena. Mothers, their babies and the entire family are able to enjoy events together and have the safety, privacy and convenience of this important space thanks to our partnership with MVP Health Care.”

The Mamava pod at the MVP Arena is an all-in-one lactation space that features ventilation fans for air circulation and white noise, two benches, power and USB outlets, and a calm space for all lactation needs. Through the free Mamava app, parents can find and unlock the pod, check availability, get vacancy alerts, and adjust interior lights.
