February 14, 2024National Grid and Snap-on Manufacturing Donation Puts a Charge in Capital Region BOCES Student Learning
The partnerships Capital Region BOCES forges with local, national, and international businesses continues to pay dividends to area high school students.
On Friday, National Grid and Snap-on Manufacturing Company officials donated to the Capital Region BOCES Career and Technical Education Center a Snap-on multimeter and rechargeable battery.
A multimeter is a powerful diagnostic tool used by many technicians in industrial, power generation, agriculture, aviation, and numerous other industries to determine whether critical devices are functioning properly.
Knowledge of how they functioned and how to use the properly is one of the most-requested skills, Snap-on officials said.
With the donation of the tool, BOCES will be able to offer certification in multimeter use, allowing students in the Automotive Trades Technology, Electrical Trades and Heavy Equipment Operation, Maintenance & Repair programs at the Career and Technical Education Center – Schoharie Campus to enhance their skills and bolster their resumes, said Nancy Liddle, Managing Program Coordinator – Business & Community Partnerships for Capital Region BOCES.
“BOCES thanks National Grid and Snap-on for their continued support of our programs and specifically, our students. This donation will directly impact our students, helping them gains skills and future employment that will benefit them throughout their lives,” Liddle said.
The donation was one of more than two-dozen activities taking place during February to mark Career and Technical Education Month. Events range from presentations by business partners, to a career fair for aspiring cosmetologists to the first-ever “Shadow a CTE Scholar Challenge” in which area school administrators will become a CTE student for a session, taking part in the full class experience alongside a student from their district.
