Alliance180 is so grateful for the generous donation from Lisa Mitzen of Business for Good. “If you’re a #bfg fan, you know we LOVE to help both humans and animals here. We recently visited Alliance180, an organization that helps Veterans, First Responders, and Frontline Healthcare Workers. Pairing people and horses, Alliance 180 teaches people the language of horses, helping them gain awareness, perspective, and a better outlook to fight the effects of trauma. We’re so excited to make this donation to enable them to continue their amazing work and stay true to BFG’s mission of helping people and animals”, says Lisa.
The Program, founded by Bob Nevins, a decorated Army Helicopter Pilot during Vietnam, is based on the universal language of the horse and trust combined with science-based research of the Polyvagal Theory (www.polyvagalinstitute.org) developed by Stephen Porges, Ph.D., Kinsey Institute, Indiana University and University of North Carolina. Dr. Porges states “The Alliance180 team have successfully utilized the power of an equine experience to help re-tune the regulation of the autonomic nervous system in Veterans, first responders and frontline healthcare workers who have experienced trauma”.
“Alliance180 is provided at no cost to our participants and is strictly confidential. This significant donation will allow us to assist those in need of this lifechanging Experience” says Denise Romeo, Executive Director.
