This Giving Season, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Capital Region is Celebrating

This giving season, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Capital Region is celebrating each Little, Big, volunteer, donor, and contributor that makes up the ecosystem of our important work — keeping our mission of improving the lives of youth around the region and helping them achieve their full potential.

It takes a village! We are dedicated to ensuring that every kid we mentor feels supported and experiences long-lasting outcomes. And, our Bigs also find fulfillment, lifelong experiences, and genuine care for and friendship with their mentees.

Big Sister Julie agrees. “Big Brothers Big Sisters was integral to the relationship that my Little Sister and I share. Without this organization and the dedicated staff that they employ, my path would not have crossed with hers. Not only is my Little Sister hopefully receiving encouragement, optimism, and advice from me, but she also brightens my life and broadens my perspective. The matches and experiences that come from BBBS are truly changing communities for the better, one Big and Little at a time.”

Little Sister Ashley shares, “My Big helps with my mental health, especially with COVID. She helped me for the first birthday and holidays after losing my grandmother. It was hard keeping my friends through COVID, but she is still my friend. The first time we went ice skating, I couldn’t ice skate. I was struggling to learn and a couple of times I almost fell. I could feel silly and mess up around her. Another good memory is when we went to a Siena basketball game, because Siena is my dream college. It was fun seeing how it was in-person.”

Help support the matching of Bigs and Littles like Big Sister Julie and Little Sister Ashley this giving season. Make a contribution to Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Capital Region today! Your investment will be more than a donation* – it will help us create more matches and encourage more Bigs to become mentors and guide more youth to their fullest potential.
