Iron Sharpener Podcast Ribbon Cutting in Albany

On Friday, September 16, the Chamber completed its first-ever ribbon cutting of a podcast, traveling to downtown Albany and the New York State Museum Library to assist Sandra Buchanan and her Iron Sharpener Podcast (ironsharpener.net) as she cut the ribbon and shared insights about her work. Also on hand was author Jonathan Bhagan, an attorney featured on CNN and Fox for his work on human trafficking and sex crimes. Mr. Bhagan spoke of the extensive amount of such crime that takes place in the Caribbean and his work to create a Global Sex Offenders Registry.  Ms. Buchanan’s podcast works to promote business in the region, giving them a forum to promote their wares and share their success stories. The name is taken from the Biblical book of Proverbs 27:17 – “as iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.”  Danielle Davis, the Capital Region Chamber’s Director, BIPOC Business Growth and a past guest on Ms. Buchanan’s show, addressed the group and spoke of the importance of engaging with a more diverse group of business owners and helping the community benefit from increased knowledge and fresh perspectives.  The challenges due to systemic inequality have been extensive over the years, but thanks to the work of many who endeavor to better integrate our community, progress has been made and the future is far more promising.

All 2022 ribbon cuttings of the Capital Region Chamber and its affiliates are sponsored by the Saratoga National Bank and Trust Co.
