Shenendehowa Central School District Builds New Multi-purpose Turf Fields

The Shenendehowa Central School District has just completed an ambitious project to build new multi-purpose turf fields located behind Koda Middle School on their main campus off Route 146.  The fields have been lined for lacrosse, soccer and field hockey and will be used by the Shen Athletic Department and community groups.  A big celebration took place on September 12 attended by students, teachers, Administration staff, the Capital Region Chamber, and area elected officials. Superintendent Dr. L. Oliver Robinson emceed the event and spoke of the dedication of all the staff, parents and students who made this possible. The original field was becoming hard to maintain because of the heavy use, dry weather, and the increasing restrictions of what sorts of fertilizers, herbicides and insecticides are permitted.  Switching to turf brought the field up to modern standards and drastically eases the ability to maintain the facility so students of all classes can benefit.
