Metroplex Approves E/One Expansion in Niskayuna

The Board of Directors of the Schenectady County Metroplex Development Authority met on August 31, 2022, and approved a two-phase expansion project at E/One Corporation in Niskayuna.

As part of a proposed phase one, the company intends to invest $6 million over the next two years to construct a 27,250 square foot addition to expand manufacturing and add a R&D demonstration area. The second phase, proposed for 2024/2025, involves a $2.2 million investment by E/One to construct a 5,595 square foot addition to expand its loading dock and materials storage capacity. As proposed, the project would create 30 new jobs over the next five years, adding to the company’s existing workforce of more than 180 team members.

Eric LaCoppola, President of E/One said, “We are pleased to work closely with Metroplex and the Town of Niskayuna to expand our Balltown Road headquarters and manufacturing site. The market response to our All-Terrain Sewer System has been outstanding, resulting in the need for additional capacity at our flagship operations in Schenectady County.”

The Metroplex Board approved an exemption from sales tax and a payment in lieu of tax agreement that phases in taxes on the building expansion.

E/One’s business activities are comprised of two main segments: sewer systems and utility systems. The company pioneered sewage collection systems that are characterized by low- pressure, gravity-independent, contour-following systems, which are very effective in difficult land areas, such as wet, rocky and hilly terrain. The E/One Sewer® grinder pump is a market leader. The sewer systems business is the focus of the Niskayuna expansion project. The All- Terrain Sewer System [youtube.com], driven by E/One grinder pumps, gives customers the freedom to sewer anywhere at a fraction of the cost of gravity sewer systems.

Headquartered in Niskayuna with offices and distribution throughout the world, Environment One Corporation (“E/One”) is a diversified, high-technology company. E/One is a wholly owned subsidiary of Precision Castparts Corp.

“Our economic development team has done a great job attracting and retaining a diversified portfolio of businesses and industries within our county, which strengthens our economy and community,” said Anthony Jasenski, Chair of the Schenectady County Legislature. “We congratulate E/One on their upcoming expansion and thank them for their continued investment in Schenectady County.”

Niskayuna Town Supervisor Jaime Puccioni said, “Located right across the street from the new Momentive headquarters, we are thrilled to see this expansion by E/One. We continue to work closely with the County’s economic development team at Metroplex to keep this tech corridor growing in Niskayuna.”

Ray Gillen, Metroplex Chair said, “E/One is an important manufacturing and technology company in our community, and we are grateful that they are expanding their Niskayuna operations resulting in increased investment and jobs for Schenectady County.”
