June 23, 2022Roman Catholic Diocese’s First Pre-K-12 School (Catholic Central School) Unveils New Brand, Logos
After six months of research and poring over more than 700 survey responses, officials at Catholic Central School (CCS) today unveiled the school’s new brand, including the new tagline and logos, to students, faculty and staff at a pep rally held at St. Ambrose School in Latham.
The new consolidated school, a partnership between Catholic Central High School (CCHS) in Lansingburgh and St. Ambrose School, will provide a continuum of Catholic education from pre-K to 12th grade in one convenient, central, safe location.
“We’re thrilled to finally unveil CCS’ new brand,” said Giovanni Virgiglio, Ed.D, superintendent of schools, Roman Catholic Diocese of Albany. “Through extensive research with faculty, administrators, parents, students, alumni and members of our Futures Committee, we learned what was important to each of them about the new school and what they hoped it would become. Our new school logo, athletic logo and tagline (Academic Excellence. Rooted in Christ.) do a wonderful job meshing the identities of two schools, while making Catholic Central School stand out in today’s highly competitive education environment.”
“We are so blessed to have so many stakeholders invested in the success of our transition to CCS,” added Lily Spera, principal, St. Ambrose School. “That investment was seen in our re-branding process from stakeholders providing feedback through surveys to our dedicated branding team working diligently to finalize our new brand. Our branding team, which consisted of representatives from various stakeholder groups, embarked on a lengthy process to ensure our brand will portray who CCS is. We are so proud to share the final product!”
Against a backdrop of purple pom poms, beads and glow sticks — and cars proudly decorated by CCHS’ senior class — CCS students met their new classmates for the first time at the end-of-year pep rally. They then made their way to an outdoor tent where an upbeat video revealing the new tagline and logos was played. T-shirts emblazoned with the new logos were distributed. CCHS’ Crusader mascot distributed giveaways, played games, and danced with students to some of the hottest tunes.
“I am beyond excited for our partnership with St. Ambrose School,” noted Austin Matteo, athletic director, CCHS. “Together we will be able to provide strong academics and competitive sports — rooted in our Catholic faith — to students of all ages on their educational journey.”
Starting this September, students from CCHS will join students from St. Ambrose School to form the new school. Officials expect enrollment to be around 350 students.
CCS will be created in phases over the next few years and 2022-2023 will be a transitional year.
The new school will offer students a full academic journey in a safe learning environment at one central location. CCS will afford families the option to enroll their children at any stage of their education accommodating the varying grade level configurations of any surrounding public or private school.
Students will share St. Ambrose School’s existing 20,500-square-foot building. Wings and multiple entrances will enable administrators to keep the three distinct age groups — pre-k and kindergarten, grades 1-5, and grades 6-12 — separated and, when needed, allow for purposeful interaction and mentoring opportunities.
