March 18, 2021Schenectady Jewish Community Center Calls for Volunteers for Playground Community Build
Schenectady Jewish Community Center (JCC) is now accepting volunteers to assist in the community build for its new playground. The build is open to members and nonmembers and will take place April 25 – 26 and May 2 – 4 with two shifts each day from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1 to 5:30 p.m.
The current playground at the Schenectady JCC is more than 30 years old. With a need to serve more than 1,000 school-age children – including pre-school, after-school and summer camp kids – the new Ernest & Gloria Kahn Playground will be larger, more modern and more accessible to all children at the JCC. Additionally, the new state-of-the-art playground was designed by Parkitects, a leading playground developer.
Experience is not required to volunteer in the community build. Volunteers should be at least 15 years of age or older, and minors must be accompanied by an adult. In addition to build volunteers, there will be other volunteer opportunities as well for check-in, food tent, and other duties. Masks will be required, and social distancing will be observed with volunteers spaced out outside during the build. Lunch and snacks will be provided, and child care will be available during Sunday shifts.
