Member Spotlight: Skin by ASK

Skin By ASK LLC was founded in February 2020 by Andrew Stephen Kelly. Its first standalone location in Latham had its grand opening shortly after Labor Day in September 2020.

Skin By ASK helps clients all over the United States by offering virtual facial consultations to help clients achieve their skincare goals, even if they are not located nearby. Kelly says being a small business during COVID has had its challenges, but he has enjoyed getting to connect with clients across the country.

What makes Skin By ASK different than other spas? “Its personalization of skincare treatments,” says Kelly. No one person receives the same treatment and each client receives their own customized skin program and home care regimen. Unlike most spas with a long menu of standardized options, Skin By ASK bases its skincare treatments around the amount of time spent on the treatment, allowing clients to learn more about their skin and what treatments are beneficial for them without having to choose from a confusing menu of services.

Says Kelly, “It helps take the guesswork out for our clients and helps them feel confident they are receiving the best service for their particular needs and goals.” He says he doesn’t look at the skin by the normal “skin type” method, but rather a proprietary analysis developed by Biologique Recherche called the Skin Instant, which is the condition of your skin at any given time (Skin by ASK is also the exclusive provider of Biologique Recherche Paris skincare and treatments in the Capital Region).

He goes on to say that the Chamber has been an incredible resource for connecting him with other business professionals. “The virtual seminars the Chamber holds are great for furthering your knowledge of various business strategies to help you grow, especially for small businesses.”

What is Andrew’s favorite part about the Capital Region? He says it feels like home for him because he grew up in Niskayuna. “Having lived in NYC for over ten years after attending FIT for college, it’s been so nice moving back home and opening up my own small business. I always dreamed of having my own spa and with a large network of people, but still having that small town feel.”
