November 16, 2020Schenectady Greenmarket Moving Inside Proctors starting Dec. 6
Today, Schenectady Greenmarket announced it will stay outside around Schenectady City Hall until November 22 and move inside Proctors starting on December 6 for the winter on Sundays from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Schenectady Greenmarket acts as a vital food-system in downtown Schenectady and staying open with proper health and safety measures through the winter is more important now than ever before.
The outdoor and winter markets are home to more than 60 local vendors, making the market a one-stop-shop for groceries, take-away meals, and artisanal items. Customers can find farm fresh produce, meats and eggs, in addition to baked goods, international foods, and hand-crafted items.
Make Schenectady Greenmarket your COVID-19 sanctuary for all your needs this holiday season and beyond. The lively atmosphere and quality vendor selection make Schenectady Greenmarket a great place to spend your Sunday.
“We are happy to announce that Schenectady Greenmarket will continue to operate year-round with our move inside Proctors starting in December,” said Haley Viccaro, Chair of the Board of Directors for the Schenectady Greenmarket. “Now more than ever, it is important to help ensure local residents have access to fresh, local and quality produce and continue to offer benefits for those in our community who face food insecurity. Schenectady Greenmarket will continue to follow all health and safety guidelines with our move inside, and we look forward to continuing to provide an essential service to Schenectady’s residents, while helping to support local businesses and farms and help strengthen and grow our city.”
“While performances are postponed indefinitely, we are pleased to use our large community facility for safe activities from ‘Bridging the Gap’ tutoring for high school students, to safe rehearsals for the Empire State Youth Orchestra, to our BOCES partnered theater technology program,” said Philip Morris, CEO of Proctors. “Now, bringing the Greenmarket ‘home’ seems like the right fit and will continue our efforts in the community and beyond.
Schenectady Greenmarket will have increased COVID-19 health and safety protocols with our move inside Proctors, which you can find on our website at schenectadygreenmarket.com, along with updated calendar, vendor descriptions, market times and parking details. Schenectady Greenmarket is fortunate to be able to continue operating inside Proctors, where there is the highest quality ventilation system (MERV 13) with access to additional space to further enforce social distancing among vendors and customers to help ensure health and safety.
Due to the ongoing pandemic, there will be no annual Fall Harvest Dinner, a major fundraiser for Schenectady Greenmarket. With increased customer safety, an online marketplace, and expanded promotions, any help is appreciated as the Schenectady Greenmarket sends out an Annual Appeal for the first time in years.
