20 School Records Broken During Record-Setting Track Season

A Record Setting Season for Doane Stuart-Rensselaer Track

Rensselaer, NY – The records keep falling for the Doane Stuart-Rensselaer Thunder Rams track team.  As it currently stands, 20 Doane Stuart records were broken by the boys and girls teams this year, a phenomenal feat.  Congratulations to our student athletes and coaches for their record-setting season.

Since last week, three brand new school records were set:

  • 3000m Steeplechase – Thomas Mathes –  10:59.86
  • Boys 3200m Relay – Gawain Semlear, Jonny Hacker, Liam Lynch and Zak Maurer (Renss.) – 8:27.14
  • Girls 3200m Relay – Sarah Stapleton, Anne Fraser, Amelia Stapleton and Catherine LaPorta (Renss.) – 10:32.60

Liam, Thomas, Meghan Araldi and the Boys 1600m Relay team also lowered their school records:

  • 3200m – Thomas Mathes – 10:47.19
  • 3000m – Meghan Araldi – 11:55.29
  • 800m – Liam Lynch – 1:59.23
  • Boys 1600m Relay – Brandon Clancy (Renss.), Gawain Semlear, Zak Maurer (Renss.), Liam Lynch – 3:31.7

  • 100 High Hurdles – Amelia Stapleton – 17.22
  • 400m – Amelia Stapleton – 62.74
  • 400 Intermediate Hurdles – Amelia Stapleton – 67.56
  • 2000m Steeplechase – Meghan Araldi – 8:09
  • 400m Relay – Abby Hanna, Maurin O’Connor, Louise Metz, Christina Bellamy (Renss.) – 55.26
  • 1600m Relay – Catherine Laporta (Renss.), Sarah Stapleton, Anne Fraser, Amelia Stapleton – 4:26.56
  • Triple Jump – Louise Metz – 30ft 8.5in
  • Pole Vault – Maurin O’Connor – 9ft 6in

Boys

  • 100m – Liam Lynch – 11.58
  • 200m – Liam Lynch – 22.68
  • 400m – Liam Lynch – 49.58
  • 1600m – Liam Lynch – 4:48
  • Javelin – Jonny Hacker – 53ft 4in

State Qualifiers will be held Thursday and Friday, June 4-5 at SUNY Albany.  Good luck to all of our Thunder Rams as they compete to earn a spot at States!

A special note of good luck and well-wishes to Liam and Amelia, our graduating seniors.  Liam will attend Haverford College in Haverford, PA in the fall, where he will join Dan Sax ’14 who is a current member of the track team.  Amelia will run track for Smith College in Northampton, MA.  Liam and Amelia currently hold seven and five school records, respectively.
