With big engines comes big futures! Employment of diesel techs is forecast to grow 9 percent by 2026 according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, putting Capital Region BOCES Career and Technical School Diesel Tech students like Will Linger of RCS and Frank Tricozzi of Scotia-Glenville in the fast lane for career success.
The Capital Region BOCES Diesel Tech the only high school-level program in the state to earn certification by the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation/Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (NATEF/ASE), ensuring that students like Will and Frank are ready for the lucrative career opportunities that exist. Students in the program work on actual trucks and repair and operate diesel engines. Students also learn electrical/electronic theory, which they apply to computerized control systems used on today’s trucks, and learn how to service and maintain a trucks chassis, steering, suspension and braking systems.
Approximately 40 students from Cohoes to Duanesburg are currently enrolled in the program, which is located on the Capital Region BOCES Career and Technical School Albany Campus.
