April 11, 2019Meeting Professionals Celebrated Excellence on Global Meetings Industry Day
Meeting Professionals International Upstate NY (MPI) is held their Global Meetings Industry Day (GMID) Gala Thursday night and hosted hundreds of tourism professionals from across the Capital Region to celebrate and award their leaders.
The meeting trades generates billions of dollars into the economy each year in the form of tourism, special events, conferences, and more, which help to support countless local, small, and family owned businesses.
Master of Ceremonies, and long time tourism industry professional, Todd Garofano, announced the winners of select awards. Planner of the Year went to Maribeth Riley from The Business Council of New York State, Inc. Volunteer of the Year was awarded to Alicia Perez Osur from Schenectady County Community College. Discover Saratoga was honored as Partner of the Year. Heidi Longton from NYS School Boards Association was awarded as Industry Leader and Kelli Gormley from The Business Council of New York State, Inc., was recognized as the Rising Star of the Year.

Meeting professionals across the world participate in the international day of advocacy with more than 200 events held around the globe.
