Interview with Jared Humiston, Owner, ADKtechs

“I started ADKtechs in 2005 with one goal in mind: to deliver top of the line IT services and solutions to our customers with honesty and integrity. Our slogan, “We Make Technology Work for You,” is another driving force. Too many IT firms turn out cookie cutter solutions rather than listening to how their customers conduct business and tailoring a solution to improve it. We want the investment you make into IT to be on innovating your business and not on maintaining your technology.

I chose this type of business because I’ve always had a passion for problem solving with technology. Turning a customer’s investment into a revenue generating or cost saving solution by innovating their business through technology is what geeks me out about what we do. When implementation is complete, we love to see our customers thrive and see their IT problems melt away.

After graduating from SUNY Polytechnic Institute with a B.S. in Computer Information Systems, I used my technical skills to become a lead engineer for some of the Capital District’s largest IT firms and developed some of the earliest cyber security programs in the region before opening ADKtechs. Prior to establishing ADKtechs, I worked as a Senior Solutions Architect, responsible for the establishment of cyber security programs for large regional banks, moving data centers for organizations like Xerox, and making a startup’s proof of concept a reality. In the early 2000’s, after a major data breach at a regional grocer, while working with another firm, I was called upon by Big Y to analyze and address any security deficiencies in order to prevent a similar breach in any of their dozens of stores.

I hold a number of industry recognized certifications including Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE 2003, 2008, 2012), VMware Certified Professional (VCP3, VCP4, VCP5, VCP6), Certified Ethical Hacker, Certified Pen Tester, Cisco Certified Network Professional with a Security Specialization (CCNP-Security), Fortinet Network Security Expert (NSE 1,2,3,), among other complementary trainings and certificates.

I also serve as the Chairman of the Board for the Washington County LDC, serve on the Board of Directors for the Adirondack Regional Chamber of Commerce, and Board of the Argyle Youth Commission. In addition to these Boards, ADKtechs is a Platinum Investor in the Warren County EDC and works closely with local chambers as an IT Provider.
