3rd Annual “GLOBALFOUNDRIES WEEK at miSci” to Provide 400+ Capital Region Youth with Interactive STEM Education Experiences

• A $20,000 gift from GLOBALFOUNDRIES will enable science center experiences for 400+ students
• Students from area youth-serving organizations to engage in hands-on STEM learning at miSci
• Programming will include interactive workshops, a Challenger Learning Center mission, and astronomy education with the Dudley Observatory and Suits-Bueche Planetarium at miSci

For the third year in a row, GLOBALFOUNDRIES (GF) has partnered with miSci to provide STEM education to underserved communities in the Capital Region. Increasing its gift this year to $20,000, GF will enable 400+ middle- and high school-aged students from Capital Region Boys and Girls Clubs (Albany, Schenectady, Southern Rensselaer, and Troy), Girls Inc. of Schenectady, and the Schenectady YMCA to experience the immersive science programs and interactive galleries at miSci during school break in February 2019. The students’ agenda for “GF Week at miSci” will include a mission at the Challenger Leaning Center, a show in the Suits-Bueche Planetarium, classroom workshops, astronomy lessons with Dudley Observatory at miSci, and exploration of miSci’s hands-on galleries.

“GF Week at miSci” will occur February 18-22, 2019, with student groups from the Boys and Girls Clubs, Girls Inc., and the Schenectady YMCA visiting that week from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm.
