Local Elementary Students with Epilepsy Join Together to Plan World Purple Day®

Four Latham Ridge Elementary Students host Meeting of the Epilepsy Minds as they begin to plan for World Purple Day® on March 26th. The statistic, 1 in 26 people will develop epilepsy sometime in their life, really comes to fruition as one North Colonie elementary school educates four different students who have epilepsy,  a neurological disorder marked by sudden recurrent episodes of sensory disturbance, loss of consciousness, or convulsions, associated with abnormal electrical activity in the brain.

It’s not like the students passed each other in the hallways and suddenly determined they all had this in common. The families of the children met through the work done by the Epilepsy Foundation of northeastern New York. Lots have been done by the group of children in regards to educating their classmates on seizure safety and fundraising in the community. They are sure to celebrate in the most appropriate of ways!
