Marvin and Company, P.C., an award-winning Capital Region accounting, auditing, taxation and management consulting firm, is pleased to announce the election of Kevin P. O’Leary, CPA as the new Managing Director of the Firm, effective January 1, 2019.  O’Leary succeeds Kevin J. McCoy, CPA, CFF as Managing Director, who has led the firm in this role since 1991.  McCoy will continue with the firm advising and servicing clients as a Principal.

“It has been an honor to serve as Managing Director for the past 27 years,” says McCoy. “The growth and progression of the firm have been outstanding the past 95 years, and I know it will continue to make leaps and bounds under the direction of Kevin O’Leary.”

O’Leary began his career with Marvin and Company in 1999 and became a Director in 2010.  He has nearly 20 years of experience in corporate and personal income tax.  He is also the director in charge of the Firm’s tax department.  He primarily deals with individual and corporate tax compliance, Form 990 issues and assisting non-profits to obtain exempt status.  Kevin also oversees the firm’s business development and marketing initiative, which includes budgeting, marketing goals and scheduling of events and participation.

“I am humbled and excited to be elected as the Managing Director of Marvin and Company, P.C.,” said O’Leary. “Our Firm is built on a strong foundation and our staff is dedicated to serving our clients, our community, and each other. Our Firm will continue to rise to meet the challenges of our clients. I have some big shoes to fill, but with the great team we have at Marvin, I strongly believe we can accomplish our immediate and long-term goals.”

O’Leary previously served on the Small Business Committee for the Albany-Colonie Regional Chamber of Commerce and served as the treasurer of Capital Region Sponsor-A-Scholar. He is a past President, President-Elect, Treasurer and Secretary of the Northeast Chapter of the New York State Society of CPAs. Kevin is also very involved in the local start-up community as an investor with Eastern NY Angels and a sponsor of local events such as Start-up weekend at Grand-Slam Alley and the College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering as well as many college incubator programs.  He currently serves on the board of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (NYSSCPA).

Kevin graduated from Hartwick College in Oneonta, New York, where he received his BS in Accounting.  His wife, Tara, is also a CPA and they are parents to two boys, Mason (6) and Nick (4).
