November 9, 2018Mill Artisan District Celebrates Topping Off Ceremony
The Mill Artisan District redevelopment project has reached another milestone. To celebrate completion of the structural steel phase, Re4orm Architecture , developers of the Mill Artisan District Project, hosted a Topping Off Ceremony Thursday afternoon to thank the workers and laborers who have helped the project reach this stage.
Work has been non-stop since the beginning. The on-site brewery, Frog Alley Brewing , named after the Schenectady baseball team whose members were arrested in 1903 for playing on a Sunday, began production on October 27th. The first tenant, Jahnel Group , announced in February, will occupy the fifth floor of the high-rise building for their web development company. Bountiful Bread was announced back in September and will create 4,800 square feet of wholesale production space downstairs from the restaurant . More tenants are filling in the space, as Tim Trier, owner of Firestone 151 , and Clinton’s Ditch will be creating a restaurant and bar. SUNY Schenectady will also be making use of the space once its fully functional, as the brew house will become a classroom for the college’s distilling program .
The next phase of this project is the flooring and framing of this section, while the original section of the project continues.
“We’re so proud of the work everyone has been putting into this project,” said JT Pollard, Founder of Re4orm Architecture. “It’s a huge undertaking, but we couldn’t do it without the strength and dedication of the men and women who come to work every morning to take our blueprints, and make them reality.”
“We congratulate JT Pollard and his team for achieving this milestone in the Mill Artisan District,” said Ray Gillen, Chair of the Schenectady County Metroplex Development Authority. “This project will help us continue the strong momentum that is driving the redevelopment of lower State Street.”
Construction is expected to be completed in late spring of 2019.
