Infinity Med Solutions, LLC is now Open in Colonie

The Chamber took part in a ribbon cutting on Thursday, October 18th for Infinity Med Solutions.

Infinity Med Solutions provides pre-employment physical examinations, drug and alcohol testing, hair follicle testing, and urinalysis for firefighters, police officers, companies, and Department of Transportation employees. The team also offers training in first aid and CPR.

Partners Frankie Rodriguez, Gabriel Lopez, and Sean Piasecki opened the doors to Infinity Med Solutions in March. They chose Colonie not only for the location, but because it has a growing population, a need for the services, and because Rodriguez, the company’s training director, already had established contacts and ties to the community as a member of the emergency services.

The trio brings a wealth of experience to the venture that is unique for a testing facility. “I know firsthand from my background in the merchant marines, firefighter training, helicopter insertion training, HAZMAT training, and as a flight paramedic and being involved in EMS in all capacities, that the work is pretty intense,” explained Rodriguez. “I know the risk involved in the field and why the physicals are important.”

Rodriguez and Piasecki have been best friends for more than 25 years. Piasecki, a former EMT and former director of a local ambulance company, opened his company, Eastern Medical Support, in Amsterdam 14 years ago. Early this year, in preparation for opening Infinity Med Solutions with his partners, he split the company into Eastern Med, LLC, for the occupational health side and Eastern Medical Support, for the correctional care division, which provides services to local correctional facilities.

“People were coming from Albany and Saratoga because they liked our service and our staff so Frankie, Gabe and I talked about opening a new business together,” said Piasecki. “I was willing to give it a shot, because I have two partners who aren’t afraid to work and get their hands dirty.”

Lopez, a cardiac arrest survivor who comes from a transportation industry background, joined Eastern Medical Support 10 years ago to assist with the launch of a multi-state CPR and AED program. Lopez assisted in the coordination, deployment, and CPR training for 100’s of employees throughout NYS and all of New England. He is an American Heart Association Certified Trainer and Training Center Faculty, Certified NYS Respirator Fit Testing Technician, Drug Testing Technician Trainer, Intoximeter’s Certified Breath Alcohol Testing Instructor, and CAOHC Certified Hearing Conservationist.
“When people come to Infinity Med, they can expect professionalism, respect, and compassion,” said Rodriguez. “We understand that time is of the essence. That’s why we keep a close eye on scheduling. We don’t want to keep people waiting and people don’t want to be waiting in a waiting room for an hour.”

“I want our clients to know that our staff is compassionate,” echoed Piasecki. “Our integrity is of the highest level and our providers are always reachable. We take care of our clients.”
“We make sure that our clients have healthy employees at their job sites,” said Lopez. “We want to preserve a workplace, while ensuring the safety to minimize any problems.” Lopez referred to firefighters driving large fire trucks and school bus drivers driving school buses full of children when speaking of the importance of physical exams and other testing.

Piasecki said it’s important to them that businesses view them as a resource as well. “We tell them to not be afraid to call when issues come up. We invest in going to conferences to get information from the experts on regulatory compliance and bring that information back to our clients.”

Infinity Med Solutions also goes above and beyond for clients to make sure they are prepared for their physical. “We know how hard it can be when it’s your career on the line knowing that you have to pass the physical, said Rodriguez. “We don’t just do the physical and send them on their way. We give them that extra coaching up front and try to be proactive and consider what kind of advice we can give before they come into the office, so they can have a better outcome.”

Advice could include being clean shaven when coming in for a respirator mask fit test or making sure to take medication such as blood pressure medication before they come in if high blood pressure could be an issue.
“In some cases, a routine physical finds an issue and and Infinity Med’s staff try to help and provide referrals,” said Rodriguez. “We’re proactively helping people and helping them to have a longer healthier life because sometimes through the physical, we catch something that can then be treated.”

Infinity Med Solutions employs a Medical Director, LPN, nurse practitioners, physician’s assistant, and support staff, in addition to the three partners being actively involved in day-to-day operations. As well as performing services at their medical clinic, Infinity Med Solutions works with businesses to perform on-site physicals for groups of employees.

Piasecki was awarded the Under 40 Young Professional Award by the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce in 2009 and was nominated for and received the Business Professional of the Year Award this year from Fulton-Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce for his promotion of education through his work with the Hamilton Fulton Montgomery BOCES.

All three partners are adjunct faculty at Fulton Montgomery Community College. The one credit double certification course that they designed (BLS & HS First Aid Certification) is the first college credit course in NYS based on the American Heart Association curriculum.

Infinity Med Solutions is an American Heart Association training site. The company is a sponsor of the American Heart Association’s Cycle Nation stationary bike event at Brown’s Revolution Hall in Troy on September 27th.
