SEFCU volunteers prepare to hand out backpacks at the final showing of “Summer in the City” movie series. Through a partnership with Albany Medical Center, children’s movies were shown once a week at the Palace Theatre free of charge. SEFCU provided complimentary popcorn at all movie showings to children 12 and under. Between 800 and 1,200 children attended the movies each week and at the final movie on August 28, 1,300 children received a free backpack in preparation for the upcoming school year. Throughout the summer of 2018 SEFCU has distributed 2,600 backpacks to children in the areas the credit union serves.
