Indoor Baseball Training Facility Opens in Albany

The South Troy Premier Training Facility opened its doors to its new complex on Friday, February 2. The Chamber, along with local elected officials, staff, family, friends and clients were all on hand to welcome the sports facility to the Albany area. Among some of the people who attended were New York Yankee Pitcher Tommy Kahnle. Kahnle grew up in Latham and played high school baseball at Shaker. He was drafted by the New York Yankees in 2010 and returned to the team last season after spending time with the Chicago White Sox and Colorado Rockies.

The new space offers young baseball players complete off-season and in-season speed, agility and strength training in an 18,000-square-foot turf complex. Started by the coaches of the South Troy Dodgers, young athletes can take lessons and train with former South Troy Dodgers greats who went on to play at the collegiate and pro baseball levels.
