January 23, 2018Schenectady Soup Stroll Combats Cabin Fever with Comfort Food
Twenty-six participating restaurants throughout Downtown Schenectady will dish up delicious hot soup for visitors during the 3rd Annual Schenectady Soup Stroll on Saturday, January 27 from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. To enjoy the Soup Stroll, guests can pick up an event map at any participating location and stroll from restaurant to restaurant to sample unique soup recipes for $1.00 per 3 oz. cup.
Jim Salengo, Executive Director of the Downtown Schenectady Improvement Corporation (DSIC), said, “Now in its third year, the Soup Stroll has become a signature winter event in Downtown Schenectady and a perfect cure for Cabin Fever. Not only can visitors experience the flavors and ambiance of downtown’s popular dining scene, but they also get to enjoy a great afternoon of socializing on the streets and in the restaurants with throngs of fellow Soup Strollers.”
Abby Rockmacher, owner of new Jay Street eatery and retail business The DillyBean, said, “We were highly motivated to get our new space up and running in time for the Schenectady Soup Stroll. We know how popular the event is, and we didn’t want to miss out on the opportunity to spotlight our business to huge crowds of happy and hungry visitors.” She added, “The DillyBean focuses on local, natural and organic foods and other products, so we will be offering a delicious Cream of Vegetable soup that is gluten free and vegan.”
