Bike the Branches at Albany Public Library on Sept. 16

Gather the family, hop on your bikes, and ride to several Albany Public Library (APL) branches on Saturday, Sept. 16, for the first annual Bike the Branches event.

Cyclists of all ages and abilities are invited to participate in this free ride that travels to four of APL’s neighborhood branches over the course of a few hours this Saturday. Riders can participate in any or all of the stages, depending on their age and interest. The stages are detailed below. (Map attached.)

Stage 1 | 10:00-11:00 am | Adult Warm-Up Ride
Adults wanting to warm up before the big ride are encouraged to meet at the Arbor Hill/West Hill Branch (148 Henry Johnson Blvd.) at 10:00 am and ride to the Delaware Branch (331 Delaware Ave.). This leg of the ride covers about 1.8 miles.

Stage 2 | 10:00-11:00 am | CDPHP Cycle! Pop-Up & Ride Registration
Convene at the Delaware Branch (331 Delaware Ave.) to check out the CDPHP Cycle! bikes and register for the event.

Stage 3 | 11:00 am-12:00 pm | All-Ages Ride
The all-ages ride starts at the Delaware Branch (331 Delaware Ave.) and continues on to the Bach Branch (455 New Scotland Ave.) before finishing at the Pine Hills Branch (517 Western Ave.). This stage of the ride covers about 3.1 miles.

Stage 4 | 12:00-12:30 pm | CDPHP Cycle! Celebration
Participants take a break at the Pine Hills Branch (517 Western Ave.) to hydrate. They’ll also hear brief remarks from the event hosts and see a demonstration of the branch’s Bike Fixit Station.

Stage 5 | 12:45-1:15 pm | All-Ages Return Lap
Cyclists travel from the Pine Hills Branch (517 Western Ave.) back to the Delaware Branch (331 Delaware Ave.) This last leg of the ride covers about 2.5 miles.

This free event is hosted by Albany Public Library, Albany Public Library Foundation, CDPHP Cycle!, and Albany Bicycle Coalition.
