Myers Students Visit New York City Ballet

20161015-nyc-myers-trip-group-photo-fountain-lauren-img_0378-3x4-low-res-1On Saturday, October 15, a group of 19 Myers dancers had the wonderful opportunity to travel to New York to take a class at the School of American Ballet and attend a performance of New York City Ballet’s “21st Century Choreographers”. Included on this bill was Lauren Lovette’s debut piece as a choreographer, “For Clara”, and the dancers were enthralled with it, as well as the rest of the unique, original pieces they got to witness. For many, it was their first trip to Lincoln Center and the beauty and majesty of the space was not lost on the group. Highlights of the trip included the class with company member Antonio Carmera, seeing the ballets themselves – a group of fresh, original pieces from some of the most talented up-and-coming choreographers in the field; and a chance to visit with Ms. Lovette, Northeast Ballet’s own Sugar Plum Fairy.
