Family & Child Service of Schenectady Celebrates Their Selection as Beneficiary To “Hannaford Helps” Reusable Bag Program

Family & Child Service of Schenectady, Inc. was recently selected as a beneficiary of the “Hannaford Helps” Good Karma/Reusable Bag Program. This promotion features Hannaford’s bright blue reusable bag!  This exciting program is designed to create revenue streams for deserving local nonprofits like Family & Child Service of Schenectady.

For every blue “Hannaford Helps” Good Karma/Reusable Bag purchased at the Rotterdam, Glenville and Niskayuna Hannaford locations, Family & Child Service will receive a $1 donation for every bag sold. Bags cost $2.29 each and the program runs from October 15-December 31.

“We are grateful to Hannaford for noticing Family & Child Service and the good work we do and for selecting us as the beneficiary of this exciting and worthwhile fundraising effort.” Executive Director Bob VanZetta remarked.

The proceeds from the Hannaford Helps Campaign will directly benefit the programs administered by Family & Child Service These programs include: case management services for individuals with developmental disabilities and individuals that have incurred a traumatic brain injury; respite services for the caregivers of persons with developmental disabilities; community habilitation for individuals with developmental disabilities; homemaker services for the frail elderly and those with debilitating mental health or physical health conditions; and soon to come, a Senior Meals Program.

Family & Child Service of Schenectady is a community based agency that was founded in 1930 by the Junior League of Saratoga and Schenectady Counties. It now serves more than 500 clients of all ages and provides over 50,000 hours of direct care throughout the Capital Region.
