Earth Day Activities to be Held at N.Y. Power Authority Visitors Center

The New York Power Authority will mark Earth Day Weekend with activities and an admission-free movie at its Blenheim-Gilboa Pumped Storage Power Project visitors center from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 22, and Sunday, April 23.

 

The family event will feature showings of the video “The Lorax” on Saturday, April 22, at 11 a.m.,1 p.m. and 3 p.m. and a showing of “Over the Hedge” on Sunday April 23, at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.

Earth Day-themed activities will take place throughout the weekend, including the creation of personalized Earth Day magnets and tote bags on Saturday and starting flower pots and creating Earth Day magnets and picture frames on Sunday. Free saplings will be given to visitors as well.

All activities are free. Enjoy the exhibits, take a nature hike, enjoy the grounds and celebrate Earth Day!

The visitors center, featuring interactive exhibits and displays on such topics as basics of electricity, uses of electricity, and the operation of the Blenheim-Gilboa project, will be open as usual from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The center is located on Route 30, 17 miles south of Middleburgh and five miles north of Grand Gorge.
