Debra Casadonte Gelson Joins Tully Rinckey PLLC’s Firm As Senior Associate

Tully Rinckey PLLC is pleased to announce that Debra Casadonte Gelson has joined the firm’s Binghamton office as a Senior Associate. Gelson focuses her practice on criminal defense, as well as family and matrimonial law. She represents clients in matters including domestic violence, child removal actions and juvenile delinquency hearings, and student disciplinary actions under Title IX alleging sexual assault.

“I am honored to continue my practice and dedication to law at one of America’s fastest growing law firms. Tully Rinckey PLLC has provided me with the legal support and staff I needed to further develop my practice area, allowing me to focus solely on my cases,” said Gelson.

Prior to joining Tully Rinckey PLLC, Gelson ran her own practice in New Jersey for more than two decades. Gelson is certified by the New Jersey Supreme Court as a criminal trial attorney, and she spent many years as an assistant county prosecutor and the director of a sex crimes and child abuse unit. Gelson also has experience investigating and defending police misconduct allegations.

Gelson was appointed in 2001 as a municipal court judge and cross-assigned to serve in numerous municipalities as a conflict judge. Gelson was the former President of the Municipal Judges Association. She was approved as a “Legal Expert” by the United Nations Development Programme to assist in the implementation of various democratic initiatives in numerous third world countries.

Gelson received her Juris Doctorate from the University of Toledo College of Law and her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Rochester. Besides her work as an attorney and a judge, she taught numerous law courses at Georgian Court University on both graduate and undergraduate levels. In addition, she taught continuing legal education courses in municipal court, trial advocacy, professionalism and judicial ethics.
